Buenos Aires holds job fair for people with disabilities

The Government of the City of Buenos Aires held a new edition of the 'Expo Empleo Barrial,' a job fair exclusively focused on creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities. In honor of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the event brought together over 450 people, along with companies, organizations, and areas of the Buenos Aires City Government offering concrete job proposals, according to the Argentine News Agency. The Vice Head of Government, Clara Muzzio, led the event alongside the Undersecretary of Labor and Employment, Horacio Bueno, and the Undersecretary of Disability, Sofía Torroba. Also present were the Chief of Cabinet, Gabriel Sánchez Zinny; the General Director of Employment, Mónica Tijeras, and the General Director of Independent Life and Financial Inclusion, Karina Guerschberg. 'One of the most distressing aspects of disability is employment. In our country, 7 out of 10 people with disabilities cannot find a job. We know the talent is there, but opportunities are often lacking. Our commitment is to continue creating these spaces, support employability processes, and build a more just, accessible, and humane labor market,' stated Muzzio. During the event, more than 75 job offers were presented in sectors such as technology, administration, customer service, human resources, design, communications, data analysis, logistics, and services. Participants were able to submit their CVs, have in-person interviews, and access employability and career orientation workshops. 'This is a central problem that all people with disabilities face when they reach adulthood. Not having a job prevents them from living a freer and more independent life,' expressed Muzzio. In turn, Horacio Bueno stated: 'We work every day to turn labor inclusion into a concrete reality. That is why this 'Expo Empleo Disability Edition' is so important: because it connects people with disabilities with real jobs in companies that value diversity and the contribution of each worker.'
